One of the most important things about being a good personal trainer is being able to adapt our coaching style and approach to suit the person we are working with. Not only that, but also being able to gauge how the person is feeling on the day we are seeing them and how that will also influence that particular session.
Some people respond better to a more gentle approach to gradually build up their confidence, others respond better to a more intense and direct approach to really get the maximum out of them. Personal training is not about screaming in peoples faces and pushing them too their limit ever single session, nor is it about just having fun at the gym without thinking about what progress is or isn’t being made.
